Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive Kathmandu

Meeting at airport on arrival by our staff and transfer to the hotel. Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, lies in a broad valley at the edge of the Himalayan Range.  Its art and architecture are an interesting blend of Hindu and Buddhist influences.

Day 2: In Kathmandu

Explore the fascinating city of Kathmandu, with its temples and markets, or take an optional excursion into the Kathmandu Valley.

Day 3: Kathmandu / Besi Sahar (190 km – 5 hours drive)

Drive to Besi Sahar, the Lamjung district headquarters.  Here you will be shown to your hotel for the night.

Day 4: Drive Besi Sahar / Chame (2600 m / 7 hours)

Morning after early breakfast we drive from Besisahar to Chame which will take around 7 – 8 hours rough drive. En-route we get to enjoy the countryside of Nepal with its green hills, winding rivers, terraced farms and ofcourse the mighty Himalayas

Day 5: Chame / Pisang (3300 m / 5 - 6 hours)

Today we will start our walk through a steep and narrow valley to have our first view of Paungda Danda rock face, a dramatic curved rock face rising 1500m from the river. From here, we also gain excellent views of Annapurna 2 to the south and Pisang Peak to the north east. Next, we descend to the Manang Valley floor enjoying the captivating landscape.

Day 6: Pisang / Manang (3500 m / 6 - 7 hours)

From Pisang there are two routes to Manang. We choose the one which passes through Upper Pisang via Geru as it guarantees outstanding views of Mt. Annapurna, Pisang Peak, and others. As we walk near Manang the climate becomes more cold and dry. However, a short visit to Barge Monastery, the biggest monastery in the Manang District should cheer us up.

Day 7: Acclimatization day at Manang

In order to keep fit on the trails that follow, we keep ourselves busy today with a short hike to either Bhojo Gumba or Gangapurna Lake. If we have the energy, there are options of day hikes to Milarepa's cave on the south side of the valley and the Ice Lake, high above the valley floor on the north side at 4600 m.

Day 8: Trek Manang / Yak Kharka (4110 m / 3 - 4 hours)

From Manang village, the trail crosses a stream, climbs to a village of Tenki above Manang, and then continues to climb out of the Marshyangdi Valley turning northwest up the valley of JarsangKhola. The trail follows this valley northward, passing a few pastures, a scrub of juniper trees, as it steadily gains elevation. The trail further passes near the small village of Ghunsa, a cluster of flat mud roofs just below the trailhead. Now the trail goes through meadows where horses and yaks graze. After crossing a small river on a wooden bridge, the trail passes an ancient old Mani wall in a pleasant meadow and then reaches another small village of Yak Kharka. Little but Gradual ascent is the key to avoiding altitude problems.

Day 9: Trek Yak Kharka / Thorang Phedi (4420 m / 3 - 4 hours)

It is an uphill walk to Thorang Phedi. After walking for some time we cross a suspension bridge and reach Ledar village. We ascend furthermore and pass through towering cliffs before reaching ThorangPhedi, the last village before Thorong La.  On this trip we are rewarded with one of the best views of Mt. Gundang, Mt. Syagang, Thorung Peak and Mt. Khatungkan.

Day 10: Thorang Phedi / Muktinath (3850 m / 7 hours) via Thorongla Pass (5416 m)

It demands an early start today for your crossing of Thorung La [5416m]. The trail becomes steep immediately on leaving camp but as this trail has been used by local people for hundreds of years, the path is well defined. The gradient then eases and after around 4 hours of steady climbing, you reach the chorten and prayer flags of the pass. The views are dramatic to say the least, from the snow-covered mountains above, to the head of the Kali Gandaki valley below and the brown and purple hills of Mustang which are spread out before you. The descent to Muktinath is a knee pounding 1600m but it is compensated for with excellent views of Dhaulagiri. Eventually the moraines give way to grassy slopes before a pleasant walk along the Jhong Khola Valley to Muktinath and its shrines and temple.

Day 11: Drive Muktinath / Jomsom (2733 m / 1 hour drive)

Morning after breakfast, drive to Jomsom a Himalayan village famous for its delicious apples.

Day 12: Fly from Jomsom / Pokhara (20 minutes)

The flights are available during the morning time. The strong breeze blows during the after and frequent change of the weather prevent the flight being landed and taken off in the afternoon. During the flights in morning, the sky looks very clear which makes you able to enjoy the splendid views of different mountain peaks

Day 13: Depart Kathmandu

Transfer to airport to board the flight for onward journey.
